Just when you thought it couldn’t any better here in the Beautiful Riviera, its time for Polo! The 5th Annual Copa Del Rey is coming back again in May 26, 27,28. This year it will be hosted again at the El Roy Polo country club in the Riviera. Another reason occupancy is over 80%
If you have not ever had the experience of a day in the field at a Polo match, there are no words that can explain it. Go! Not only is Polo one of the world’s oldest team sports, its popularity has sky rocketed here in Mexico where it attracts a following almost as fanatical as football. The energy of the horses, the colors of the field, the lay of the tents and surrounding flags all go together to make one match of polo complete with its own personality.
Aside from the fact that you will get to see firsthand the sheer speed, size, and scope of mounted riders jockeying for position, the energy is truly infectious. Just watching the sport in action your heart will beat faster and your breath will pick up as you see just how amazing it is. In the audience, you will no doubt encounter people from all over the world, and just across the street. For instance, last year, the Copa Del Ray’s attendance included folks like actor Tommy Lee Jones, Sir Ben Kingsley, Arnaud Bambger, and the Prince of Whales.
Bottom line, if you still want more after that, you may be a convert in the making…that’s how I got started too. Lessons are offered at the Copa Del Rey. Who knows, you may be a quick learner and work up to a 6 or 7 handicap in just a few months…Either way, you are in for a truly engaging experience this year at the 5th annual event.
