For the second year, the festival “Viva Frida” will be celebrated in this city, on the anniversary of the artist Frida Kahlo death, this July 6, but now with a parade on Fifth Avenue, with circus, music, costume contest and more.
The event is organized by the Frida Kahlo Riviera Maya Museum, with the Thompson Hotel and other businessmen and groups. As indicated, there is no budget, but a lot of enthusiasm and many volunteer artists who want to participate.
Museum staff indicated that the sargassum issue has not only affected tourism but also the alternatives of family coexistence, so they want to draw the attention of people, both visitors and locals, with activities for the whole family.
Anahí Leyva, manager of the Thompson Hotel, indicated that last year this celebration began in a small way, but now, given the great response received, they want to do it more in a big way, with a parade and some local artists.
She indicated that due to lack of budget many guests have canceled, so they make the invitation to anyone who wants to participate “because here is a lot of talent,” she said.
Several hotels will cooperate for the awards for the best Frida Kahlo, in categories for children, adults and the elderly.
The parade will take place from Quinta Alegría to 8th Street, where the cultural event will take place, from 7 to 11 at night, free.
