Two Cozumel beach parks set to reopen July 1

With nearly 20 hotels open and the resumption of two flights from the United States and one from Mexico City, Cozumel is preparing for the reopening of its ecotourism parks for July 1.

Officers with Civil Protection made tours to the two parks, Chankanaab Adventure Beach Park and the Punta Sur Eco Beach Park, both of which are set to reopen next week.

Emilio Villanueva Sosa, the director of Fundación de Parques y Museos de Cozumel, acknowledged that personnel have been trained and the facilities upgraded to comply with the New Normal health measures and that full inspections were carried out in the partner companies.

Federal officials made tours of the parks to verify the status each, including fire extinguishers, electrical installations and preventive health measures against Covid-19. The inspections will ensure guests of the parks enjoy a safe visit during their stay on the island.
