Bahia Principe Golf, the division of the Living Resorts business unit of Grupo Piñero that manages four golf courses in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, will host for the first time, one of the most prestigious amateur competitions in South America: the final of the Latin American Golf Championship, which will celebrate its XII edition between October 16 and 18 at the Riviera Maya Golf Club, 25 kilometers from the town of Tulum (Quintana Roo, Mexico).
The tournament will have the participation of around 140 players from more than 10 Latin American countries. The event will welcome players with a cocktail once the practice day is over and will end after the third day, with the awards ceremony and the closing party of the championship. In parallel to the individual competition, there will also be a competition for teams consisting of four players, in which each group will represent a different country.
The participants will stay in 2 establishments of Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts, in the Luxury Bahia Principe Sian Ka’an, establishment ‘adults only’ of five stars, that counts on more than 400 rooms; and at the Luxury Bahia Principe Akumal, also five stars but focused in this case to families.
Vanessa Vignali, corporate director of Bahia Principe Golf, said she was “delighted to be the venue for this event of international projection and impact, which consolidates us as one of the best golf courses in Latin America. The Riviera Maya Golf Club, recently recognized by Golf Digest magazine as one of the best in Mexico and America and designed by Robert Trent Jones II, is a jewel we could not be more proud of. “
The Latin American Golf Championship has been held since 2007 and has been hosted in previous editions in Panama, the Dominican Republic, Argentina, Venezuela or Paraguay.
On the other hand, it is worth mentioning that the Piñero Group, which has the most resort complex in the Riviera Maya, does not rule out disembarking in Asia and, therefore, will “send a team to different areas” of the continent to explore its possible incursion into the destination where other giants like Meliá and Riu are concentrating their expansion.
