The online newspaper Digital Journalist, awarded La Carabela de Plata to the Riviera Maya, for being the Best Destination of Sun, Beach and Adventure 2019, in the first edition of the Travelers Awards that took place in the framework of the start of the International Fair of Tourism of Spain (FITUR).
Darío Flota Ocampo, general director of the Tourism Promotion Council of Quintana Roo received the recognition of the Digital Journalist publication, which turns twenty years old and has more than 10 million readers, and pointed out the importance for the tourist destinations of Mexico on Spanish tourism, which in 2019 received about 180 thousand travelers from the Iberian Peninsula.
“Quintana Roo already exceeds 107 thousand rooms and is consolidated as the most important state in the country in tourism, in addition to tourism representing 8.8% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Mexico, which motivates to boost with much more determination to this sector, vital for the national economy. ”
