After years and years of wanting the clocks to change, getting signatures to change the time to get more sunlight! Our petitions have finally been heard! It’s official, new time zone will be equivalent of U.S. Eastern Time.
With 258 votes in favor of members of all parties, one against and one abstention, the Congress approved the creation of a new time zone for Quintana Roo reference to the meridian 75, which is the prevailing in the eastern United States, which in fact will result in being an hour ahead of the rest of the country in winter, but in summer the same time the center of the country would.
Plus, during the winter, instead of us having to leave the beach at 5:30 p.m. because it looks like it’s 9:00 p.m. we will get sun until 6:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m.!!
The state will not change times at any point during the year. Essentially, the state will be on Daylight Savings Time all year.
So set your clock on the night of the 31st one hour ahead and enjoy the sun!
