MEXICO CITY—Mexican mogul Carlos Slim said that Mexico, faced with protectionist policies of U.S. President Donald Trump, should focus on strengthening domestic demand, replacing imports with local products and boosting salaries.
“We have to strengthen our nationalism,” Slim, one of the world’s richest men, said Friday at a crowded news conference. “The development of the external sector since the 1980s has been good, but it’s very important to boost internal development through more national investments.”
