If you didn’t know yet, it is one of the top jazz festivals in the World, held every Fall in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. It is also unique in the location: Playa del Carmen is a paradise-like place, and the stage is just next to the Caribbean Sea.

This year wasn’t going to break the tradition, even with a global pandemic. As a consequence, the organizers took the unprecedented decision of streaming the festival online, for all publics around the world.

After three days of magic, the event has left innumerable unforgettable moments, that we hope to repeat next year, this time in person. For now, we can rewatch the best parts below:

Day One – November 27

It’s the first day and the hype is real: the festival opened with three great bands. Inaugurating the festival, there’s Aguamala, a jazz fusion band that combines the genre with rock and funk. Following them, Steffie Beltt, and Xaman, a solo artist and an ethnic-jazz fusion band.

Day 2: November 28

On the second day of the event, we had a special and emotional night. First, we remembered the history of the festival and one of its pioneers: Fernando Touissant. After him, we enjoyed the performances of Elite Band, with Hiram Gomez Blazquez, and the Diego Maroto Quartet.

Day 3: November 29 – Closing the Riviera Maya Jazz Festival 2020

Closing a show is hard but, with these guests, it was definitely not. On the third day of the festival, the audience was delighted with the music of the boleros of Memo Ruiz, the solo artist Natalia Marrokin and the Pepe Hernandez Music & Paco Rosas Quintet.
