Playa del Carmen is becoming more and more popular for those seeking a second home!
There are many wonderful things about Playa del Carmen that appeal to everyone, apart from the Caribbean sea and white sand beaches, here is a list of things that are making Playa more and more attractive to those seeking to become expats!
- Warm weather 365 days a year!
Playa del Carmen is home to many snowbirds that come and spend the winter months here, Playa is a place that attracts people from all over the world, not only from The US and Canada which are the closest countries, but from countries across Europe and Asia, it has been said by different visitors to this paradise that it has a special vibe that they had never felt anywhere else, I think this could be because of all the Mayan magic and spirituality held by this Paradise.
2. Low cost of living
Playa del Carmen is a place where you could find property for half a million on the beach or a great condo furnished for $80,000 USD only 10 minutes away from the beach! Let’s face it…the point is to live in Playa and owning a place in this paradise can make anybody’s life change and become a dream come true, of course not everyone is looking to buy a place right away, rents can range from $400 USD a month for a 2 bedroom condo 10 mins from the beach or $3,000 a month on the famous 5th avenue!
Food can be very affordable as well!
If you are the kind of person that loves to cook or visiting small local restaurants this is the place for you, Playa is a place for all wallet sizes, you can dine on 5th avenue and spend hundreds of pesos or you can go to different local places and enjoy a nice meal for about $6 USD! There are also grocery stores like wal mart and Costco in Cancun where you can get all sorts of ingredients to cook your favorite meals! On one good visit to the grocery store you can spend about $150 USD and get a whole cart of food, this with meat, vegetables, fruits and food for a family of five to last for about 2 weeks!
You can pay 50 pesos and get 4 kilos of laundry done for you and your house cleaned for about $25USD!
3. Beautiful cenotes, jungle, parks, turtle sanctuaries
Living here will open your eyes to many different beautiful places you never imagined were so close to Playa del Carmen!
4. Cultural diversity and fun
You will never run out of things to do in a place like Playa del Carmen! Specially because people from all over the world travel here and you can learn about different cultures without leaving this magical place!
We have spoken to many expats and they all agreed on the fact that $1500 USD a month is more than enough to live like a kind in Paradise! (without going crazy on luxuries of course)
